Hello, I am Anny

My journey to product design has been shaped by a lifelong fascination with creativity and the joy it brings to everyday life. Growing up in a family immersed in classical music, I began playing the piano at the age of five and earned recognition, including the Silver Award in the International Piano Competition for Teenagers of Northeast Asia. These early experiences instilled in me an appreciation for emotional expression and beauty.

However, my artistic curiosity extended far beyond music. Regular visits to the China Academy of Art and Zhejiang Art Museum introduced me to a variety of creative fields, and a transformative visit to the Corning Glass Center sparked my interest in industrial design. There, I was captivated by the blend of exquisite design, craftsmanship, and thoughtful materials—an experience that planted the seed of my passion for creating meaningful, beautiful products.

During my time at boarding school, I began choosing and evaluating my own daily necessities. I noticed how some products achieved a harmonious balance of functionality, aesthetics, and affordability, while others fell short. This discovery made me realize that thoughtful design can profoundly elevate the objects we interact with daily. With this in mind, I decided to pursue industrial design as a way to blend practicality with creativity in ways that enrich everyday life.

At ArtCenter, I’ve been honing my skills across a wide spectrum of disciplines, including hand sketching, 3D modeling, rendering, layout design, and crafting high-quality physical models. My explorations have led to projects like the Avopod, a vacuum preservation device for avocados, and a LEGO-inspired speaker. These endeavors have deepened my understanding of the balance between practicality and playfulness, as well as the power of design to bring joy to people’s lives.

Looking ahead, I aim to further refine my ability to design products that are both functional and delightful, while developing a signature style that reflects my playful, thoughtful approach to design. My ultimate goal is to become not only a skilled designer but also someone who lives a life full of curiosity and creativity, channeling that passion into work that resonates with others.
